Message the FSM for amount of deflection at a certain amount of pressure, but I go by feel. Invest $5 for a Harbor Frieight multimeter and measure the voltage at the battery with your engine running. You'll find other uses for the multimeter later. I had an alternator die a slow death over a period of two months once.
